An extension should be requested when unexpected and unanticipated difficulties adversely impact on your studies and your ability to submit coursework by the deadline date.
If you need a short extension (up to 5 working days) in order to complete your assessment, you need to complete a Request to extend a submission deadline (RESD) via My Student Record on MyHallam.
Please watch the guidance video to ensure that you understand how to submit a request and what documents you need to upload with the request.
You must submit a RESD at least 24 hours ahead of your deadline via My Student Record (MSR) on MyHallam, and upload any uncompleted work. Please continue to work on your assignment in case your request is not accepted and you need to submit your work by the original deadline.
You will receive an email confirming the outcome of your request within 48 hours and MSR will also be updated.
If you cannot meet the extended deadline speak to your Student Support Adviser for advice on submitting a Request to repeat an assessment attempt (RRAA). Our Extenuating Circumstances Policy can be found on our Rules and Regulations pages.
You can access the online RESD form via a smartphone. Please note that you are not able to submit a RESD against a sub-task. RESD may only be submitted against tasks.
If you are having difficulties, please contact a Student Support Adviser via Hallam Help at or on 0114 225 2222.
